YOU Are In An Unique Position . . . !
(Unlike Our Unfortunate Friend Below)

YOU Have An UNIQUE Opportunity … to make a needed and profound contribution to the well-being of nearly ALL Human Beings, a contribution that few methods, or people, can assist them with.
AND, working with this particular issue gives you another Perfect Opportunity. An opportunity to introduce them to a wide range of positive benefits that yoga has to offer in the physical, mental, emotional and relational — even spiritual — realms, in a context they, as members of Western Civilization, can relate to.
YOUR Opportunity … if you choose it, is to help your fellow human beings deal with their Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension, otherwise know as C.E.M.&.N.T. . . .
And C.E.M.&.N.T. leads to a wide range of symptoms and syndromes that are very often mistaken for other problems. Many a MIS-diagnosis has resulted from doctors and therapists having little, if any, knowledge of the wide-ranging effects of muscle tension, nor their causes.
Even most yoga teachers and massage/bodywork therapists are NOT nearly as informed about muscle and nerve tension as you might think. (My evidence for that is how many yoga teachers and bodyworkers have been my private therapy Clients, and how many yoga teachers are developing neuromuscular and myofascial injuries.)
Nearly Everyone Has It. … to some degree. Even a mildly slouched posture is PRIMARILY the result of chronically over-shortened muscles somewhere in the body. (And NO, it's usually NOT WEAK muscles! And most slouching is NOT from tight chest muscles, either!)
Few people will escape its effects, which will show up at some point in most peoples' lives. And for some of them, the effects will be profound, and, to varying degrees, in very negative ways. C.E.M.&.N.T. is one of the primary causes of bodymind breakdowns the sense of feeling old that we usually associate with the aging process.
YOU Can Help Them Prevent C.E.M.&.N.T. from interfering with their lives, or assist them if it already has.
Yet, as you help them prevent negatives, you will, at the same time, with the very same techniques, be showing them how to enhance and maximize the positives of their Psycho & Neuro-Muscular Structure. . . .
As they deal with their neuro-muscular and myo-fascial issues, they will soon discover, with your help, that these are a potential doorway to the inner realms of the mind and emotions.
While not all problems are psycho-emotional in nature, you can show them how to use the mind to access their emotional and/or physical issues.
So, HOW Do YOU Take Advantage Of This Opportunity?
DSL Let-Go Yoga is one of THE BEST ways of dealing with Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension and Physical or Mental Stress. Unlike in other, more aggressive and popular systems of yoga, where far more tension is building up in the background than most practitioners — and instructors — realize.
With DSL Let-Go Yoga, the focus is primarily on deep, psycho-muscular relaxation and integration that works simultaneously with the nerves and fascia. It helps reduce or eliminate negative habit patterns. It can be done preventively, or to reverse a situation that has already gotten out of hand. (Yes, prevention is always better, but few people are willing to do that. They usually wait until it's already a problem.)
If you have not already, please visit the C.E.M.&.N.T. page to get an overview of this problem, which is also your Great Opportunity, to be of great service to your Student's & Clients.
To further familiarize yourself, also Click on the page for the 10 Principles of Maximizing Results While Minimizing Injury.
Then, please Continue To Read Below about my Live Trainings that will help you get the insight, knowledge and skills you need to Get Control of Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension and the many phenomena that revolve around it.
2-Day PRO Intro Seminar:
An Orientation to the Foundational Training
In this Seminar, you'll get the Big Picture Overview of the most important elements in theDSL Yoga & Bodywork approach, which will include MUCH information and some techniques you can actually USE and DO immediately after the seminar. This seminar creates the initial Matrix of Information orienting you for the 50-Hour Foundational Workshop.
This Seminar also helps you decide whether the DSL approach is right for you or not.
Now, to Be Completely Honest, My Programs Are NOT for Everybody
Along with the physical practices, there is a LOT of rational/analytical thought involved. Although it varies from group to group, the 50-Hour Foundational Training is about one-third physical and two-thirds mental – approximately. So I have designed the 1-Day PRO Seminar with only a few physical processes and techniques so you get a really good exposure to what the informational and intellectual content is all about, and why it is VITAL to your understanding of the human body and physical/mental yoga. If you get through THAT and are still interested and motivated, then the rest of the program should be a breeze for you.
In ANY kind of educational program, you'll have a far better experience IF . . .
a.) YOU want to be there, and
b.) everyone else wants to be there, too. And . . .
c.) we all are on the same page.
The 2-day, 15-hour Program will ensure that everyone who gets to the 50-Hour Program understands and embraces WHAT and HOW I teach. … I do everything I can to make sure NO ONE is disappointed with my programs.
Now lets face it. There are MANY places you can go to do TONS of different postures with a multitude of variations and nuances. But NOT that many places you can go to get the range and depth of insight & knowledge about the foundations of how asana — and the human bodymind — actually work, from the inside out, that I can provide you.
If You Want To Do MOSTLY Asana,
This Is NOT the PLACE for You
You probably know how it is when someone in a learning environment is resistant to what's being taught. It really pulls down the energy and the pace of the whole group.
There are many people, maybe even most, who do not want to invest the mental — and sometimes emotional — energy necessary to teach and work the way I and people I have trained do. A few people have actually come up to me after a program and said they thought what I was teaching was very accurate, interesting and important; BUT … they didn't want to have to think that hard.
Students Becoming Clients Means MORE Responsibility!
There is also a higher level of responsibility toward your Students, as well. As you might have read elsewhere, The DSL Method of Let-Go Yoga™ attempts to elevate our relationship to our Students to that of Client.
- According to Webster's Dictionary, a Client is One who is under the protection of another.
- And that Other is You. … If you accept the job, that is.
Because you are willing to accept a higher level of Response-Ability toward your Clients, you will become far more valuable to them. You will become their trusted advisor. If you know your stuff, they will come to you before all others when they make decisions on their Yoga related self-care issues. And mayber a few others, too. (It's amazing the kinds of advice people will ask of their yoga teachers.)
Now, you might not want that responsibility. It means you have to know a lot more, and see a lot deeper into the human bodymind and its structure and the workings of asana and related practices than others do. But if you DO want that responsibility, the rewards can be great.
Are You "Not Good" At Linear Thinking?
Let Me Tell You a Bit of a Secret . … Most people are at least somewhat surprised to discover that I myself have been surprisingly weak on understanding things if they are presented in a purely linear fashion. It's been that way ever since I was in grade school. I took high-school algebra THREE TIMES and I STILL don't understand it. … And I am soon to be 54 years old!
Yet one college grad who attended one of my advanced workshops on Bio-Structural Analysis said I was teaching calculus without the numbers! … Now, how can a guy who does not understand high school algebra teach calculus?!?! … Beats me. All I know is what they tell me. … But I work much better with things I can see visually first, especially if I canFEEL them.
If something is presented to me in a non-linear, kinesthetic or graphic way, then I can get the linear details much more easily. … And that's what I try to recreate for you in my trainings, whether Live or on the Internet.
So, if you feel you are not that good with linear kinds of mental work, but WANT to be, THIS is a good place to start developing your skills for that. As much as possible, when you get to the Live Foundational Training, we will start with sensory, experiential processes. Then, we will share and discuss what we experienced with each other. Then I will visually illustrate, with drawings and visual aids, what I think is going on with the body in light of the scientific explanations for what we experienced. And then, we will actually look at and talk about the hard data from the sciences.
Then, we go back an put it together with the physical work again.
The trick is to establish an Experiential Matrix in your brain and nervous system, then insert the data — the details, with your permission, of course — into the Matrix. That way, they stick with you a whole lot better, and longer. If you keep working with them, they become part of who you are, without having to "remember" it. It's just there when you need it.
I work, as much as possible, to teach from the NON-linear first, then move to the linear, then back again. I work with as wide a range of learning styles as possible, the primary being kinesthetic, auditory and visual, with other sub-styles in the mix. Like merging the intuitive with the rational.
Yes … There IS A Lot of Mental Work … But FUN & Interesting Work! …
And, You Can Discover How To FEEL Your Way
To Effective, Efficient & SATISFYING Thought!
Regardless of what kind of learner you are, you have to be very willing to invest some significant intellectual & feeling/sensory powers in this material in order to do, then master, the more in-depth aspects of the DSL approach to Let-Go Yoga (or DSL Yoga-Based Bodywork, if you add that to your studies, and which even yoga teachers can benefit from, A LOT). Although you can and will get much of it by just feeling and sensing your way through the program, you will NOT get the full benefit without applying the rational / analytical aspects of your mind, brain and nervous system. Remember, by definition, being "wholistic" must include the mind, brain and rational processes.
Again, if you do not WANT to do this kind of work, I recommend you do NOT take my programs.
(One of the things you will learn is how the most rational and analytical movements of mind are actually based in feeling states anyway, and really are not truly separable. So you might as well learn how to get the full range of feeling/thinking back in relationship and harmony with each other anyway, right?)
Take & Apply As Much, Or As Little, As You Like
Sometimes the DSL work, and the perspectives behind it, are VERY different than what people are used to. Often times, the information comes into direct conflict with what they knew, or thought they knew, to be true. It was too much of a challenge for certain participants to make such a shift in perspective and practice, or even stay open to the possibilities. So they did not continue studying with me. Yet most of those who DID stick with it say that it revolutionizes how they look at … well … almost everything, to be honest.
Now, I teach an open-ended system and ask NO ONE to change what they are thinking or doing just because I said so. You are free to integrate, or not, as much or as little as you want, when you want. Sometimes you'll end up modifying or letting go of some or much of what you used to think or do, but this is up to you, and at your own pace, in your own comfort zone.
And that's okay. There is PLENTY of room for many different styles of practice and teaching. My programs are for people who are actively seeking an integrated feeling/thinking/meditative/acting approach with a SOLID scientific foundation about the structure of the human bodymind in as many dimensions as possible. …
This is NOT an Authoritarian approach. YOU are your own Master, your own Ultimate Source of deciding what's correct, and what's not. I deliver the content, you decide what works, or is applicable, for you. … You are not required to agree with everything or anything to be involved with this work.
Now, I attempt to teach, as much as possible, only that which is proven to be true about the human bodymind. If that's true, then it must apply to all systems and approaches. If true, then what I show you can only enhance and improve upon what you are already doing or teaching.
Also, I do NOT get into the more magical or mysti-physical aspects of certain approaches to yoga. I teach an in-the-world approach to physical, mental and relational yoga with their therapeutic applications. It is a non-mystical, non-religious, non-guru, non-authoritarian, yet no less conscious (maybe more so) approach to yoga.
And, if you define Spiritual as the dissolving or opening of boundaries between beings and entities, then the DSL approach can be very spiritual, if you go down the path of that aspect of what DSL Yoga has to offer.
This is for independent thinkers who want to develop the intellectual, rational and analytical side of their bodymind as well as the feeling, meditative, intuitive side. People who love knowledge and information, if it will help them do a better job, be a better teacher/therapist, or be of greater service to people. … Or just be a better Human Being.
What, Exactly, Are Us Teachers Doing, Anyway?
As described elsewhere on this site, Human Beings are designed for Abstracting (mentally lifting out elements of, and sifting through) and Time-Binding (passing the essential elements) our experiences to other people and new generations.
And that is what you and I as yoga teachers — or any teachers — are doing. We explore, study and filter out, via our own personal experience, what we feel and think is the most important information and skills people need to learn, and deliver it to them. If we do a good and relevant job, we get a good reputation and more people are drawn to us. — (No, I do not believe you can forget about marketing. In fact, the more unusual you are, the more amazing your results, often requires even MORE marketing than those who are just doing what everyone else is doing. If you sound too good to be true, many people will stay away. … But we will get more into that in the website.)
IF we stay too focused only on what has been passed down by tradition, the evolutionary process stops in its tracks. Yes, we can use tradition as a check or filter to make sure our new, bright ideas are not actually long-term dead-ends or disasters. But we cannot, as Joel Kramer has said, use tradition as a vice to too tightly mold our experience (paraphrased).
In my life, I have focused on a unique body of information and technique that is different than what most people are used to, especially in the yoga world. But those who study with me say it has made a BIG and POSITIVE difference in the way they do yoga, the way they look at the human bodymind, the way they teach and coach their Students and Clients. … And they get very different and improved feedback from students, too.
To tell you the truth, it is so different that most people require, at first, some significant readjustment time to the new ideas. Yes, it takes time, yet most of them are VERY GLAD they invested that time.
Useful To A Wide-Range of Health Care Practitioners
And NO, Prior Experience Is NOT Necessary
The vast majority of people — including yoga teachers — who have been through my trainings have NOT been exposed to most of the perspective, information and technique I teach. And certainly not to the depth I teach it.
As an example, almost everyone has heard of The Edge. But very few have ever heard the elements, details and nuances I provide for you in the program.
So I start ALL of my programs with the basics. From the Ground Up. So regardless of your experience level, you will not be very far behind anyone in the program, if at all.
Another Plus … You can use DSL Let-Go Yoga™ as a therapeutic and maintenance tool if you are any kind of body-oriented therapist. … Even psychologically oriented therapists have taken my programs and benefited. It helped them gain a better appreciation and understanding how much the physical aspects of being human affected their psychological and emotional experience, and vice versa. It helps you be more clear whether an issue is more physical, mental or emotional in nature.
My programs will also pave the way for becoming a Leading Edge Yoga Therapist, if you desire. And, the program is a Great Introduction to Yoga if you are a Hands-On Massage or Bodywork Practitioner, or a Physical or Occupational Therapist, and have never done much or any yoga at all.
If you are a Pilates or Personal Trainer, or any kind of Physical Exercise Coach, you will get valuable insights into how the bodymind really works, and things you should be doing, that can only enhance strength, endurance, balance, coordination, agility, and so forth.
Many people are amazed to find out how More Strength comes when they focus ONLY on More Length & Relaxation — and proper Balance — in their Muscles.
New, Unique & Valuable Information That Helps Make YOU
More Valuable — and Appreciated — By Students & Clients
Now, much of the stuff I teach, I am told, is seldom, if ever, discussed or even mentioned anywhere else. Slowly, over the years, things I've been teaching for ten to twenty years are coming out in different places from different people. But not all in the same place, and not with the depth of experience I've had working with so many relatively extreme pain and dysfunction Clients over the years.
You will have, all in one place, Early Access to a wide-range of valuable information and perspectives that very few people even know about. Yet, it is stuff you can actually use and apply in your personal practice or teaching of yoga as soon as you learn it.
And, most of it is so deceptively simple that it seems complicated. Yet it really is only complicated because it goes against what most of us have been told all our life. Things like you do sit ups and crunches to get rid of pot belly and love handles. … NOPE. The truth is the EXACT opposite. … You might find yourself having to invest more energy in UN-learning — or at least temporarily suspending — what you already know in order to make room for this material.
Most people see with their Brain, rather than their Eyes …
Learning the difference is NOT always easy.Yoga is, in part, about learning to Actually See what is Actually
There, rather than what you want or are conditioned to see.
This ability and knowledge will greatly increase your value to your Students and Clients. If you need more assurances that this work is for you, please go to my Testimonials pages and see what people from several walks of life have to say about my work and programs.
Small Class Sizes for Personal Contact with . . . ME!
Now, to be honest, I am far more interested in your receiving high quality, personal experience and education than I am in having huge groups of people attend.
One of the biggest complaints I have heard over the years about many of the Big Seminars in the yoga and bodywork fields is there was not Real Access to the person who created the program. … I, on the other hand, want to maintain that access for you as much as possible for as long as I can.
(Which is one reason to get started with me sooner rather than later. When this website takes off, I will probably not have much, if any, time to do Live Trainings except at much higher prices.)
You might recall that in the not-too-distant past, yoga was taught mostly one-on-one, which has many obvious advantages. Yet there are also BIG advantages to studying in a group, as well. For one thing, it expands your perspectives on how other people experience and process techniques and ideas.
Because I am working to change the Learning Paradigms in the way yoga (and a lot of other things, for that matter) is practiced and taught, I'm looking for the balance of one-on-one versus groups that will give you and I the best of both worlds.
I'm trying to maintain as much of that personal contact as possible with people who study with me, along with the advantages of us all being in a room with several other Students.
So, as a result of all that, I am limiting my workshop sizes to (at the moment) 8, possibly 12 people in each group. They will only get bigger IF I find two or more VERY qualified and motivated Assistant Instructors, people I can rely on to convey what I am teaching when I am occupied on the other side of the room. … (That's not exactly a job offer, but I will be looking.)
Another issue is that The 50-Hour Foundational Training will take up Two 3-day or Three 2-day weekends, depending on what you want and how we schedule it. (I will soon have a Survey Page on the website for you to tell me what your preferences are as to format, how many days at a time, how far apart should the weekends be, and so on.)
I am also working on a Residential Intensive Format, where we will get it all done, all at once. And, I want to build in a little R&R and Adventure Touring in the middle of them. (I'm looking at Ecuador for the first one.)
True, I won't make nearly as much money as some of the Big Seminars out there, because I am going for quality rather than quantity. To maintain the quality and integrity of our experience together, we have to keep the personal contact high. But in the long run, you and I will be more empowered to make a far bigger and deeper impact on the practice and teaching of yoga — and on our individual Students and Clients — in the world.
So if you want to get in on a Live Program, I suggest you SIGN UP SOON! Unless things go very smoothly, I will only be able to work with a few groups this year; 3, possibly 4. After that point, my trainings will be quite a bit more expensive.
To reduce your risk as much as possible, the 2-Day PRO Seminar has a 100% Money-Back Guarantee, so you can take it risk free. If at the end of the 1st Day, you do not think the information was useful, you can have your money back. … HOWEVER …
… if past experience is any indicator, it will be very difficult for you to participate in my Seminar for six hours and not get as least a handful of good and very useful ideas you can put into practice immediately. Then, if you go on to the 50-Hour Foundational Workshop, it is filled with even more useful perspectives, experiences, information, skills and techniques that will help you be a far better practitioner and teacher of yoga.
One More Thing . . . Feeling It In Your Body
My preference is to set these programs up so that after the 1 Day program, and before the start of the 50 hour program, you will receive a 4 hour private session with me. The primary focus will be on you receiving at least two to three hours of hands-on work. Why do I do that?
First, I want you to be able to feel, very quickly, what your body feels like when it gets the tension released. And frankly, most people release tension fater with hands-on work than they do with yoga asana.
Second, I want to make sure I know a little more about who you are and what issues, if any, you might be dealing with. I personally believe that one injury prevention strategy is to have a lot better reading on a new Student, and that's difficult to do in a few moments when a whole bunch of people are showing up for a class. This way, the actual workshop will go more smoothly. And if we have a few participants who have some issues, working with them in the workshop might be very instructive to all of us.
Third, I want an opportunity to get some of your more specific questions and concerns handled before the workshop starts. And there are a few things that need to be felt individually to really get them. This includes feeling how the pelvis moves, or the abdominals lengthen, what The Edge feels like, and so forth. This way, I don't need to take time in the workshop to go around to each person one-by-one.
No matter how many diferent ways I explain it, everyone says that unitl they actually feel me doing something, or you actually doing it yourself, you just won't get it. Sometimes, words just do not translate the physical experience, as you well know.

Hi David, I am having no luck clicking to see about the different options for learning. Perhaps there is a missing bit? I will try another time. Enjoy the spring. Va
