SKIP to the Seminar Schedule & Details

This 15 Hour Seminar & Workshop will help you decide if DSL Yoga is for you. You'll also get some experience with DSL EdgeWork, which is the more overtly therapeutic and hands-on, bodywork component of DSL. Even if you do not plan to do yoga therapy or hands-on bodywork, this knowledge is immensely valuable for many reasons, to be discussed below.

This 2 Day Course is Pre-Requisite to the 45-hour Program. You'll receive a substantial and in-depth overview of the most important concepts of DSL Let-Go Yoga & EdgeWork. Enough so that your teaching or practice should be significantly accelerated just from this program alone.

Even though it is geared in part to interest you in taking the full DSL Program, You Get A 100% GUARANTEE that the program is filled with solid, useful and practical information, as well as experiential practices and insights you can FEEL in your body. Things you can use the moment you leave the program, or more likely, while your still in it!

DAY 1:
Emphasis On The Informational & Analytical

The first day — 6 classroom hours — is mostly informational and about the Scientifically-based Perspectives and Techniques I have  uncovered, developed and learned from others — and integrated into one system — over the years. Although we'll do some short DSL style stretch breaks and experiential exercises, we'll only experiment with a small handful of actual DSL Let-Go Yoga postures later in the afternoon. This is partly because I want you to discover and feel how much can be accomplished with a small number of postures.

Also, I want you to get the Big Picture of what this work is about. Because there is so much information, and so little time, I feel it's best to give you the overall intellectual framework first, then fill in the full range of experiential aspects during the 45-hour Foundational Training.

(This approach is actually against my Basic Teaching Philosophy, which is to have an experience first, discuss it among the group, then fill it in with intellectual knowledge. However, doing it that way takes TIME. And we only have a short time to give you an overview of the program. So I will be feeding you a lot of information with small amounts of experiential stuff, so you can get a wider view of the whole process and program.)

If you go on to attend the 45-Hour Foundational Workshop, it will include a very strong Experiential component, and everything covered in this Introductory Seminar/Workshop will be thoroughly integrated BOTH experientially and conceptually, along with the in-depth sciences. And the overall emphasis IS on the sciences, because that seems to be the weakest link in most people's understanding of how to practice and teach yoga or perform bodywork.

Now it is true. The 45-hour Program will be about 30 per cent physical doing of asana, and 70 per cent  on perspectives and information I think people need to know to be highly effective teachers and therapists.

Do you HAVE to know this stuff to be a good teacher? … NO, you do not. … However, there will always be limitations on what you can do, and how far you can go, as a teacher or therapist without this kind of information.

The Heart Without The Head . . .

This program is for people who WANT to get more deeply into the thinking and analytical aspects of Human Potential & Healing, and Yoga. As my yoga teacher, Joel Kramer has said:

The Head without the Heart is Barren,
The Heart without the Head is Chaos.

I assume for my courses that you are familiar enough with the physical part of yoga or a similar practice, and that you want and need more of the intellectual and scientific basis. That is what I am here for.

If that is NOT what you want and need, Please DO NOT take this Course. I want Very Happy Students. Not people who wished we were doing something different through the whole program.

If you want to learn my asana stuff exclusively, without the sciences, you can sign up for a Private Session with me. A few Private Sessions will give you a pretty good dose of the phsycial asana portion of what I teach. And I can give you some of the theory and mind/body integration stuff while we work, too. But it will, of course, not be comprehensive like the workshop.

I estimate that the 1st Day Seminar will be about 90% thinking, 10% experiential, in order to prime your mind for the next day, and later, the 45-Hour process. Overall, the 45-hour Foundational Workshop will be more like 70% thinking and information, and 30% experiential and phsyical. I want no misunderstandings here, nor do I want you to be disappointed if you expect it to be doing mostly physical yoga.

I believe, for example, that if you understand the creation of a few postures in great detail and depth — at an intellectual as well as experiential level — you'll be able to apply that experience and knowledge to, or construct your own, asana on your own. . . .

Talking To Physicians On and In Their Own Terms

I am also interested in you being able to sit down with a doctor and within MINUTES, if not seconds, be able to prove to them that you know what you are talking about, and can do so in THEIR language. And based on THEIR scientific principles. … That will probably not happen right away. That will probably take quite a bit more than sixty hours if you do not already have a background in how they think and talk. But my intention is to get you up to that level as quickly as possible. As the website develops, you'll get a lot more of that.

So IF the integration of thinking and feeling, and a higher, deeper level of more technical thinking, is what you want, and you want to catch up on all the very important stuff that is NOT taught in most yoga certification and teacher training programs, well, here it is.

And my experience of most yoga, bodywork and wholistic people in general is that they could use quite a bit more in the way of intellectual grounding for what they do. After all, without the Scientific Method, most people would probably still think the Earth was flat!

(SURPRISE . . . NOT)

Over the years of developing this seminar/workshop, often times, the very people who were most concerned with not doing enough actual physical asana work were very often the very ones who kept asking the most in-depth and technical questions. Ironically, because of their questions, they usually prevented me from getting to as much physical work as I would have liked. The other students could only smile at the paradox. So I have decided to Flow with the Go on this, and not worry too much about the percentage mix of mental versus physical work.

WHO Should Attend?

Because the perspectives and concepts are universal to all bodymind health and healing, it will be open to all disciplines including Yoga Teachers, Yoga Therapists, Massage & Bodywork Therapists, Physical & Occupational Therapists, Pilates & Personal Trainers, Physicians, and so on.

Even the highly motivated General Public is welcome, because your best educated Students, Clients and Patients are often the best to work with, and usually get the most results. They often bring a perspective that professionals have lost sight of because the Pro is so immersed in the subject that they have lost sight of what it's like to be a beginner.

All of the DSL ideas and principles can apply to anyone's own personal health care program as well as classes and therapy. Although I personally prefer a more spontaneous environment, because there is so much material to cover, I'll present the information in several non-stop blocks, then open it up for questions aftert each block. Otherwise the presentation gets too far side-tracked. They are usually good side-tracks, but those are for the later, more comprehensive programs. There, we will have a more relaxed environment to explore things at your pace and more according to your interests. In the beginning programs, we'll have A LOT to cover, but I do my best to maintain some flexibility for the needs and personalities of the group.

Since your questions are at least as important as my answers, I recommend you bring a notepad and writing implements. This way you can write down your questions for the Q & A period.

The Program will be audio recorded, and available to paid attendees for the cost of reproduction and delivery. The Seminar Story Boards (the visual drawings I use) will be available in notebook size, as well.

 My 100% GUARANTEE:

At the end of the first day, you will know one of 3 things:

1) DSL is NOT for you and you received Little or NO value from attending. In that case, you will receive a full refund of the day's $177.00 Tuition. . . . Please bear in mind: I do not want people in my programs who do not really want to be there. Otherwise the experience is not so great for the other attendees, either. … And, frankly, I want Happy  Students and Clients. So it's important we figure this out as soon as possible.

2) The First Day provided valuable and useful information for you, and you are going to stay for the second day. Yet you have decided that continuing with DSL is NOT for you, or not at this time. Yet you are happy to pay the $177.00 Tuition.

3) You have decided that you DO want to continue your study of DSL Let-Go Yoga, and you will pay your remaining Tuition for the upcoming Weekend Workshop after the Seminar. Or, if your schedule does not permit that, you can register for a future Workshop, or get on the Priority List to be informed of new Workshops. . . . If you pay for the entire 50-hour Workshop at this time, you can deduct the $97 Tuition from the total cost of the Workshop.

Here is the Schedule for the Day:

Please Arrive 30 Minutes Early —

9:30 AM–9:45 AM — To sign in, get settled and socialize a bit as we have a LOT to cover and will start ON TIME.

PLEASE BRING:

Please Bring an assortment of pillows & bolsters (especially small diameter ones), cushions, and/or blankets to be used as props for certain asana, and for sitting if you prefer the floor.

Please Bring a notepad and pencils or pens. Several colors might be useful to you.

Program Overview:

Setting the Context:

10:00–10:30 AM: Introduction
A Brief Description & Summary of what will be covered during the day and evening sessions. I will also describe my basic philosophy of teaching. Ground Rules will be covered.

10:30–11:00 AM: Muscles & Nerves in Wholistic Health:
A wholistic view of how muscle tension interacts with factors such as nutrition, toxicity and the Central Nervous System to create various physical, mental and emotional stress related pathologies. Why no one modality can solve all problems, and why just because pain goes away, the problem is not necessarily gone.

11:00 AM–12:00 PM: BodyMind BreakDowns: Muscle Tension — Its Causes and Effects:
This segment of the Seminar goes in-depth into the Causes & Effects of Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension, as well as accumulations of physical, mental and emotional stress and negative habit patterns. It describes many of the pathologies caused by muscle tension, such as bad posture, restricted movement, arthritis, disc and joint degeneration, many kinds of aches, pains and dysfunctions, digestive problems, and other bodymind breakdowns.

You'll have a scientifically based view of these problems, and many new insights into how it all works, or, in some people, stops working. Your ability to communicate with your existing or potential students and clients on these issues will be greatly enhanced. . . .

12:00–12:20 PM: 20 Minute Break . . . Have some Snacks! Chat with other Attendees:

12:20–1:00 AM: How Muscles Tighten, Why They Stay TIght:
How Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension develops and persists over one's life time, and why it is inevitable.

1:00–1:30 PM: A NEW VIEW on How the Structure of the Human BodyMind Works:
Insights of
DSL EdgeWork & Let-Go Yoga on how the human body works best in its physical, mental and emotional dimensions. The DSL view of where Fluid Movement and Great, Effortless Posture really come from, and how muscles interact with gravity and the internal water pressure are unique. Many have found these ideas to be revolutionary to their understanding of how the human bodymind all works together. . . .

1:30 – 2:00 PM: 30 Minute Break

2:00 – 4:00 PM: Foundations & Principles of DSL EdgeWork & Let-Go Yoga:
This segment details the development of
DSL EdgeWork & Let-Go Yoga and how I, David Scott Lynn, developed my integrated system of Yoga and Bodywork. This portion helps you to understand the context of how to apply DSL Yoga & EdgeWork most effectively, and is meant to inspire each student to look at their DSL experience as a foundation on which to build their own unique, creative and effective approach to the healing arts. The differences between, and when best to use, yoga and/or bodywork will be discussed.

Because this segment is mostly True-Story-based, you'll be able to retain the principles more readily. (It is well-established that most people retain ideas and facts much better if delivered in story form.) It includes my story of how I got myself into and out of severe and debilitating structural and metabolic problems and the process of modifying or changing things I had been taught about how the body was supposed to work. The majority of my fundamental principles were developed while working through these challenges.

I will be covering several key elements of wholistic medical and natural healing principles, as well.

This segment includes the Principles of Reversal of Chronic, Excess Muscle & Nerve Tension, bad posture, aches & pains, and so on. (NOTE: DSL EdgeWork is the more overtly therapeutic component of my work.)

4:00 – 5:00 PM: Questions & Answers:
60 minutes for reviewing and asking questions about any aspect of the presentation or
The DSL Method.

After the Seminar: For Those Who Have Signed Up for the Workshop

5:00 – 6:00 PM: 60 Minute Break — Sign Up For Future Workshops
Light Snacks & Beverages — Socialize

6:00 – 8:00 PM: Overview & Orientation, General Q&A, on the Foundational Course:
60 minutes for reviewing the objectives, the schedule, what's going to happen, and general logisitics for the Foundational Program.

8:00 PM: Program is Over, although I will stay around for more discussion and questions if desired.
