Intro to Diet, Nutrition & Detox
The metabolic processes of your body support your basic capacity for life itself, and the ability of your psycho-neuro-musculo-skeletal (PNMS) system to take action. The PNMS system is your vehicle of Self-Expression. Without it, you can DO nothing. Even breathing is impossible without nerves and muscles.
Your metabolic system provides the fuel and the chemicals necessary to keep that PNMS system running and in repair.
One problem that arises is often, if you're experiencing a symptom or some sort of breakdown, the source can be in both systems. It can be a combination of the PNMS and the metabolic systems. But often times, the problem will appear to, or feel as if, it has gone away merely by addressing one side of the equation.
So, for example, a problem that originates in the muscles can remain unnoticed unless the metabolism gets far enough out of balance. Then, it turns into an ache or pain. If it does, you take action. If you go to a doctor or therapist that is metabolically oriented, they will balance your metabolism, and the pain may very well go away. But the source of the problem, in the muscles, will still be there.
This happens way more often than most health care practitioners realize. This leads to two principles:
1. Preventive care is best. You cannot rely on how you feel to give you the whole picture. So it is best, in the long run, to keep on top of all systems as a matter of maintenance.
2. Make sure your physician or primary care giver has as least some competence in a wide range of health care modalities.
Remember the old saying: If the only tool you have is a hammer, then everything starts to look like a nail.
Heres to having a full bag of tools. … More to come soon!
