1-Day PRO Seminar on DSL Yoga/Bodywork Therapeutics
Principles, Sciences & Therapeutics for
the Yoga and/or Bodywork Practitioner:
(And Potential Students of DSL EdgeWork)
This Full Day, 6 classroom-hour Seminar will help you decide if DSL Yoga is for you. You'll also get dome exposure to DSL EdgeWork, which is the more overtly therapeutic and hands-on component of my work.
This Day-Long Course is Pre-Requisite to the 45-hour Program.
You'll receive a substantial and in-depth overview of most of the concepts of DSL EdgeWork & LET-GO Yoga. Enough that your teaching or practice should be significantly different just from this Seminar alone. Even though it is geared in part to interest you in taking the full DSL Program, I 100% GUARANTEE the Seminar is filled with solid, useful and practical information. Things you can use the moment you leave the Seminar.
Emphasis On The Informational & Analytical
The day is mostly informational and about the Scientifically-based Perspectives and Techniques I have uncovered, developed and integrated over the years. Although we'll do some short DSL style stretch breaks, we'll only experiment with a small handful of actual DSL Let-Go Yoga postures later in the afternoon. This is partly because I want you to discover and feel how much can be accomplished with a small number of postures.
Also, because there is so much information, and so little time, I feel it's best to give you the overall intellectual framework first, then fill in the Experiential aspects during the 45-hour Foundational Training.
If you go on to attend the Foundational Workshop, it will include a very strong Experiential component, and everything covered in this Seminar will be thoroughly integrated BOTH experientially and conceptually, along with the in-depth sciences. And the overall emphasis IS on the sciences, because that seems to be the weakest link in most people's understanding of how to practice and teach yoga or perform bodywork.
The Heart Without The Head . . .
This program is for people who WANT to get more deeply into the thinking and analytical apects of Human Potential & Healing. As my yoga teacher, Joel Kramer used to say, The Head without the Heart is Barren, but the Heart without the Head is Chaos. . . .
I assume for my courses that you have already been doing a fair amount of the physical part of yoga or a similar practice, and that you want and need more of the intellectual and scientific. That is what I am here for.
I estimate that the 1 Day Seminar will be about 90% thinking, 10% experiential, in order to prime your mind for the later process. The Foundational Workshop will be more like 70% thinking and information, and 30% experiential. I want no misunderstandings here, nor do I want you to be disappointed if you expect it to be mostly doing physical yoga.
I believe, for example, that if you understand the creation of a few postures in great detail and depth, you'll be able to apply that experience and knowledge to, or construct your own, asana on your own. . . . So if the integration of thinking and feeling is what you want, here it is.
(Over the years of developing this seminar, the very people who were most concerned with not doing enough actual physical work were usually the ones who kept asking the most in-depth and technical questions. Ironically, they usually prevented me from getting to as much physical work as I would have liked. So I have decided to Flow with the Go on this, and not worry too much about the percentage mix.)
WHO Should Attend?
Because the perspectives and concepts are universal to all bodymind health and healing, it will be open to all disciplines including Yoga Teachers, Yoga Therapists, Massage & Bodywork Therapists, Physical & Occupational Therapists, Pilates & Personal Trainers, Physicians, and so on. Even the General Public is welcome, as the best educated students, clients and patients are often the best to have, and usually get the most results.
All the DSL principles apply to anyone's own personal health care program as well as classes and therapy.
Although I personally prefer a more spontaneous environment, because there is so much material to cover, I'll present the information in non-stop blocks, then open it up for questions. Otherwise the presentation gets sidetracked. They are good sidetracks, but those are for the later, more advanced programs.
Since your questions are at least as important as my answers, I recommend you bring a notepad and writing implements. This way you can write down your questions for the Q&A period.
The Program will be audio recorded, and available to paid attendees for the cost of reproduction and delivery. The Seminar Story Boards (the visual drawings I use) will be available in notebook size, as well.
The 100% GUARANTEE:
At the end of the 4th segment of the day, you will know one of 3 things:
1) DSL is NOT for you and you received Little or NO value from attending. In that case, you will receive a full refund of the day's $97.00 Tuition. . . . Please bear in mind: I do not want people in my programs who do not really want to be there. Otherwise the experience is not so great for the other attendees. . . . And, frankly, I want happy Students and Clients. So it's important we figure this out as soon as possible.
2) The Day provided valuable and useful information for you, yet you have decided DSL is NOT for you, or not at this time. You'll receive a Special Bonus for attending.
3) You have decided that you DO want to study DSL Yoga with me, David, and you will pay your Tuition for the upcoming Weekend Workshop after the Seminar. Or, if your schedule does not permit that, you can register for a future Workshop, or get on the Priority List to be informed of new Workshops. . . . If you pay for the entire 45-hour Workshop at this time, you can deduct the $97 Tuition from the total cost of the Workshop.
Here is the Schedule for the Day:
Please Arrive 30 minutes early — 9:30 AM — to sign in, get settled and socialize a bit as we have a LOT to cover and will start ON TIME.
PLEASE BRING: your favorite Beverages, Snacks and Food for the whole day. This saves time on the breaks. I will have pure water, hot water, and tea bags/organic instant coffee available.
Program Overview: 10:00–10:30 AM
A Brief Description & Summary of what will be covered during the day and evening sessions. I will briefly describe my basic philosophy of teaching. . . . Includes housekeeping and ground rules.
10 Minute Break . . . Just In Case!
BodyMind BreakDowns:
Muscle Tension—Its Causes and Effects: 10:40 AM–12:10 PM
This segment of the Seminar goes in-depth into the Causes & Effects of Chronic, Excess Muscle Tension, as well as accumulations of physical, mental and emotional stress and negative habit patterns. It describes many of the pathologies caused by muscle tension, such as bad posture, restricted movement, arthritis, disc and joint degeneration, many kinds of aches, pains and dysfunctions, digestive problems, and other bodymind breakdowns.
You'll have a scientifically based view of these problems, and many new insights into how it all works, or, in some people, stops working. Your ability to communicate with your existing or potential students and clients on these issues should be greatly enhanced. . . . I will be covering a few of the most key elements of wholistic medical and natural healing principles, as well.
Lunch Break: 40 Minutes—12:10–12:50 PM
A NEW VIEW on How the BodyMind Works: 12:50–2:20 PM
This segment overviews of the Basic Principles and Insights of DSL EdgeWork & LET-GO Yoga on how the human body works best in its physical, mental and emotional dimensions. My view of how the components of the body interact with gravity and the internal water pressure are unique and many have found to be very important to their understanding of how it all works together. . . . Includes the Principles of Reversal of Chronic, Excess Muscle Tension, bad posture, aches & pains, and so on.
(NOTE: DSL EdgeWork is the more overtly therapeutic component of my work.)
20 Minute Break
Foundations & Principles of DSL EdgeWork & LET-GO Yoga: 2:40–4:00 PM
This 1 Hour segment details the development of DSL EdgeWork & LET-GO Yoga and how I, David Scott Lynn, developed my integrated system of Yoga and Bodywork. This portion helps you to understand the context of how to apply DSL EdgeWork & Yoga most effectively, and is meant to inspire each student to look at their DSL experience as a foundation on which to build their own unique, creative and effective approach to the healing arts. The differences between, and when best to use, yoga and bodywork will be discussed. . . .
Because this segment is mostly True-Story based, you be able to retain the principles more readily. (It includes my story of how I got myself into and out of severe and debilitating structural and metabolic problems and the process of modifying or changing things I had been taught about how the body was supposed to work.)
10 Minute Break
Overview & Orientation of the Foundational Course: 4:10–5:10 PM
60 minutes for reviewing the schedule, what's going to happen, and general logisitics for the Foundational Program.
Final Remarks and General Q&A: 5:10–5:30 or ??? PM
